Gotu kola/ Asiatic pennywort also known as Centella asiatica, is a small herbaceous plant native to Asian countries like India, Sri Lanka, China, and Indonesia, with a long history of use in traditional medicine systems.

Gotu kola has been traditionally used for wound healing due to its ability to stimulate collagen synthesis and improve circulation to the skin.

Containing compounds such as asiaticoside and madecassoside, which have proven anti-inflammatory properties; these compounds can help calm irritated and inflamed skin which is great for conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne. Got kola is also believed to reduce scarring and stretch marks by promoting wound healing and encouraging the growth of healthy skin tissue.

Antioxidants help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, which can accelerate ageing and contribute to skin conditions. Gotu kola contains antioxidants that help neutralise free radicals, protecting the skin from oxidative stress and environmental damage.

Gotu kola can increase collagen production in the skin. Collagen is a protein that provides structure and elasticity to the skin, therefore increasing production will help to improve skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Enhancing the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to skin cells, Kotu kola improves blood circulation in the skin which contributes to overall health and a more radiant complexion.
